A popular way to make money with Google, is by using Google’s program called AdSense. As an Adsense advertiser you get a piece of the Huge revenue Google makes from its Adwords program. The way you make money is, every time a visitor clicks a Google ad on your site, Google pays you. This amount can vary depending on the competitiveness of the advertising keywords, which is driven by Googles Adwords system.

Adsense by Google was launched in 2003. Since then, AdSense has been an extremely popular way to make money with Google. Although the revenue is not that much per click, it can accumulate into a significant income if your site has good traffic volume. Google adsense is neat because it scans your site and only displays ads relevant to the content of your site. You can even define the keywords to use to so Google knows what ads to display on your site. This can boost your earnings by targeting high competition keywords and displaying only those associated ads on your site.

How does Adsense work?

Behind the scenes, an advertiser goes to the Google AdWords system, signs up, and creates one or more advertisements that they want to pay to have appear either on Google’s search result pages or on “content network”. The content network is a network of Web sites run by individuals and organizations that include AdSense on their websites. An example of this is About.com. Advertisers have the choice of advertising on the entire content network, or targeted sites. Your site will become a part of this content network. You can define keyword for your site, or Google will crawl it and determine relevant ads itself. When your visitors click a Google ad, the advertiser pays Google, and Google pays you.

Interestingly, this program does not really cost you anything (you need a website of course) because no money crosses hand for displaying ads, only when an ad is actually clicked, then the advertiser pays Google and Google pays you. AdSense is simple, easy to accomplish, you don’t even have to negotiate (or even talk) with advertisers, but every month or two, you get a nice little check from Google corporate.

The Google Adsense program has had a good history of being very success for many businesses. and there is still opportunities out there. However, many Internet Marketers are finding that Google Adsense is no longer as profitable to monetize as many other advertising options that are available. That is not to say that Internet Marketers are no longer using Google to make a lot of money, that will not change any time soon. Google is still one of the biggest tools and sources of traffic for most successful Marketers. Most Internet Marketers are familiar with using Adwords to drive a lot of traffic really quickly to a website and all shoot to have their websites show up on the first page of Google Search.
